Players To Watch:
Junior
Julia McGowan is on a tear this season, having scored 21 goals during the regular season, setting a new CMSV single season record for women's soccer. McGowan led the entire conference in points and goals, while coming in second in total number of shots.
"Julia is a scoring threat on the ground and in the air," said head coach
Nathan Rauscher. "She is equally strong at finding clever through balls for teammates and has really led us with her energy all season."
Fellow junior
Kelly Gibison, wrapped up the regular season with 10 goals and 11 assists, the only female student-athlete to have double digits in those two categories. Gibison finished third in points and goals and tied for the conference lead in assists.
"Kelly is a fantastic attacking threat from the midfield," said Rauscher. "She serves dangerous crosses and never hesitates to tack back and help out on defense."
The unsung hero of the 2016 Dolphins has been goalkeeper
Elizabeth Martin, who tied for the conference lead posting five clean sheets on the season. Her 1.585 GAA was third in the conference, while only allowing 25 goals over games played.
Junior
Erin Dailey was third on the team in goals with five and tied for second with five assists, with three of her five goals proving to be eventual game winners.
"Erin has incredible poise on the ball," said coach Rauscher. "She has fantastic skill to find forwards, or maintain possession with strong decision making on and off the ball."
Along with Martin, center back Lauren Tate was the anchor of the third stingiest defense in the Skyline Conference. Tate was the leader of the Dolphins back-line that allowed only 25 goals on the season and only allowed their keepers to face a total of 184 shots.
