Dolphins Inch Closer To One Seed With Win Over Maccabees

Lyndhurst, NJ - The University of Mount Saint Vincent is in a prime position to repeat as the Skyline Conference's regular season champion.

The Dolphins took part in a pair of games this weekend, first losing a rare, late season non-conference matchup to Ursinus College of Saturday before topping the Yeshiva University Maccabees in a 10-0 rout to improve the team's conference record to 8-1-1.

There were positives for UMSV in the split. Junior striker Eva Puentes continued her fantastic 2025 campaign when she combined to score three goals, giving her 13 on the season. That mark not only is the best on the team, but it also ranks as the best among all Skyline players. Sophomores Caroline Gomes and Claire Elliott continued to break out in year two, with Gomes recording a hat trick while Elliott added two more strikes to her 2025 stat line. Standout defender Cameron Cruz scored her first career goal against Yeshiva while Mia Del Rosario and Jazzlyn Cedillo also converted shot attempts in the Sunday win.

The main story, however, took place away from the Dolphins.

UMSV entered Saturday as the third seed, with both USMMA and St. Joseph's Long Island positioned as the top two teams in the conference. The Dolphins got help from Sarah Lawrence and Mount Saint Mary, as both teams tied the Mariners and Golden Eagles, giving them a fantastic chance to repeat as regular season conference champions.

The Dolphins have the chance to do so this coming Tuesday against Purchase College in the regular season finale. A victory clinches home field advantage throughout the conference tournament, one that is slated to begin on November 1.
