Title IX Policy

Title IX Prohibits Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence

Title IX of the Education Amendment of 1972 protects people from discrimination based on gender in education programs or activities which receive Federal financial assistance. Athletic programs are not the only academic realm governed by Title IX. Title IX applies to all departments, programs and activities, on and off campus, available to students at the University of Mount Saint Vincent in addition to employment. The University of Mount Saint Vincent prohibits and will not tolerate sexual harassment, sexual violence, domestic violence, stalking and dating violence upon any member of the community.

In compliance with Title IX, the Clery Act and the Campus SAVE Act, UMSV is committed to maintaining a healthy, safe, and secure environment for students, faculty and staff. The University will enforce policies prohibiting all forms of sex discrimination, including sexual misconduct in the form of sexual assault, sexual coercion, sexual exploitation, dating violence, domestic violence and stalking.

If you have been the victim or you know someone who has been the victim of sex discrimination, including sexual misconduct, sexual assault, sexual coercion, sexual exploitation, dating violence, domestic violence or stalking, you may contact the Title IX Coordinator or Deputy Coordinators listed below.

There are several individuals on campus who are mandatory reporters of sexual assault to Title IX coordinators and deputy. They have been trained in sexual assault counseling and victim advocacy:
