Yonkers, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team was handed its third loss in its last four outings on Tuesday night following a hard fought 3-1 loss to visiting Staten Island. Junior
Kelly Hilly (Massapequa, N.Y.) made 10 saves for the Dolphins in goal and sophomore
Vanessa Cornacchio (Oceanside, N.Y.) netted her team leading eighth goal of the season.

Staten Island struck first on Tuesday when Samantha Wysokowski scored her 15
th goal of the season at the 5:13 mark of the match. She took a pass from Nicole Molinell and tucked a shot inside the right post for the early one goal advantage.

Staten Island would spread its lead to a pair of goals at the 26:01 mark of the match off a free kick from midfield. Megan Burke restarted the play for the visitors and found Melissa Gelardi who tallied the eventual game winning goal.

The two goal advantage would hold until the late stages of the first half, when Mount Saint Vincent would break through and cut its deficit in half. Cornacchio would collect a shot off the cross bar inside the box and deposit her eighth goal of the season into the back of the net to bring the Dolphins to within 2-1 at the 43:27 mark.

Coming out of halftime, the Mount would have two looks from inside the box when
Charlotte Barnham (London, England) rang consecutive shots of the post inside the first two minutes of play. The game would remain a one goal deficit for the Mount until Staten Island's Demi-Jean Martorano picked up a turnover and finished off her 13
th goal of the season with under two minutes to play in the contest.

Hilly finished up a strong game in goal for the Mount with 10 saves, stopping five shots in each half. She picked up double figures in stops in her second straight appearance. Victoria Donegan picked up the win for the visitors after making three saves.

Staten Island finished the night with a 24-10 edge in shots, including a 14-4 advantage after halftime. Corner kicks went to Staten Island 5-2 on the night and fouls were called 6-4 against the visitors.

Tuesday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 7-5 overall on the season. The Dolphins will return to action on Friday night when they host Skyline Conference rival NYU-POLY. Kick-off at Tibbetts Brook Park is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
