Final Stats

Yonkers
, N.Y. The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team was dealt a 4-0 loss on Wednesday night by Mount Saint Mary. Sophomore Michelle Miller (Chester, Pa.) made her first start of the season between the pipes and made seven saves in the first half for the Dolphins.

Mount Saint Mary (6-5, 3-1 Skyline) opened the scoring in the fifth minute on Wednesday with a pretty finish off of a corner kick. Allie Kleine fed the ball to the center of the box to Brigit Burgio who tucked the ball under the crossbar for her second of the season. Mount Saint Mary would carry the one goal lead into halftime.

The Knights would strike again early in the second half on some bad luck for the Dolphins. Kleine made another centering feed inside the box for Mount Saint Mary but a defender's foot deflected the ball past the keeper in the 46th minute for an own goal. Mount Saint Mary would go on to tack on two insurance markers late in regulation to secure the win.

Kleine and Burgio each finished the game with a goal and an assist, while Colleen Cappadora picked up a helper. Megan Cotta made a pair of saves in goal to earn the shutout.

Miller played a strong 45 minutes between the pipes in her first action in net this season. She made seven stops, including two from close range after the Knights had taken the early advantage. Kara McNish (Hawthorne, N.J.) came on in the second half to make two stops.

Overall in the match, Mount Saint Mary held the edge in shots 17-3 and in corner kicks 5-1. Fouls in the contest were whistled 8-5 against the Knight.

The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 2-7 overall on the season and to 1-4 in league play. The Dolphins will be off until October 5 when they host Sage. Kick-off at Purchase is set for 3:30 p.m.
