Hall of Fame
The men’s volleyball program has a strong history attached to it, and no one deserves more praise in its accomplishments than Matthew DiStefano. From the first time he walked onto the court until his last game, Matthew brought national attention to the Dolphins. During his four years at CMSV, Matthew was consistently ranked among the nation’s best in categories
such as ace percentage, digs per game, hitting percentage, kill average per game and total aces. On top of those accomplishments, Matthew was named Team MVP from 1997 to 2000, first team All-Conference three times, NEVCA Tournament MVP in 1998, was inducted to the NEVCA Hall of Fame in 2011 and had his number 2 jersey retired by the college back in 2004.
The College was saddened to learn that Matthew passed away in early 2020 after an ongoing battle with Stage 4 Kidney Cancer. The College and its volleyball programs are dedicated to honoring the life of Matthew by promoting and donating to the Dezy Strong Foundation in the seasons to come.
