Hall of Fame
James Mooney’s inclusion in the CMSV Athletics Hall of Fame is a long time coming, and one that we are honored to award to one of the most accomplished men’s basketball players in program history.
James spent his entire collegiate career at The Mount, where he accomplished a number of feats over four seasons. James was a two-time First Team All-Skyline Conference recipient and is featured on numerous top-10 career and individual season lists in program history, including ranking number one in scoring, scoring average, field goals made, three-point field goals made, steals, steals per game, games played and total minutes played. His average of 26.8 points per game during his senior campaign ranked fifth in the country. James also got it done off the court, as he was named to the Presto Sports/Metro Basketball Writers Association Honor Roll on five different occasions.
James went on to play professionally in Ireland, England and Switzerland, where he won numerous league championships and MVP awards. After returning to the US, Mooney cut his teeth as a coach at the high school level before returning to The Mount as the head men’s basketball coach and as an Associate Athletic Director in 2017. James was named Skyline Conference Coach of the Year in the 2017-18 season.
