Dolphins Sweep Lehman In Road Victory

Bronx, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent made the short trip for an interborough showdown, with the hopes of earning their second win of the season - and they did just that.

The Dolphins challenged Lehman College and snapped their four game skid, as they dominated the Lightning in straight sets by the scores of 25-18, 25-19, 25-14. The victory improved the team's overall record to 2-5 through their first seven games.

"I'm really happy for tonight's win. We had a tough practice yesterday and it translated into the way we played tonight," stated head coach Joseph Chojnacki. "We're hoping to build on this now and use the momentum to keep us moving in a positive direction."

The Dolphins continued to be powered by a tri of first-year athletes in Riverdale. Tonight it was Anna Nolasco's turn, as the Rye, New York product let all UMSV players with eight kills. The freshman also added five digs along with a pair of service aces. Fellow freshman Sienna Martin had six kills and six digs of her own while transfer junior Alyssa Padgett added five kills, three service aces and two digs.

Freshman Stephanie Rodriguez further cemented her role as the team's setter with a season-high 23 assists. Dominique Otranto and Sophia Mandalakis each recorded a block, with Jessica Broderick pacing the Dolphins with eight digs of her own.

The Dolphins finally take the Sharp Center court this coming Saturday for an early 10 AM match against the Pratt Institute.
