Box Score Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent took the Peter Jay Sharp Center floor for the first time in 2025 - and the wait was worth it.
The Dolphins, who were looking to stay hot after a strong win over Lehman, did just that, as they topped the Pratt Institute in four sets (23-25, 25-13, 25-20, 31-29). UMSV improved their record to 3-5 in the early goings of their year.
Four different members of
Joseph Chojnacki's squad reached the double figures mark in the kill category. Freshman
Sienna Martin was a force on the outside, registering a team-best 13 kills to go along with 15 digs. Junior
Dominique Otranto had a standout performance of her own, collecting 10 kills to go along with a block.
Sophia Mandalakis and
Anna Nolasco both added 10 and 11 kills respectively, with Nolasco also leading the charge with 15 digs to tie Martin.
Carly Synder had an impressive performance in her own right. She had four total service aces, three of which came at the tail end of set three. With the Dolphins up 21-15, the Monroe, Connecticut native connected on three straight aces, catapulting her team to a set win.
Stephanie Rodriguez continued her fantastic start to her collegiate career as well. The first year setter was all over the floor, collecting 31 assists, eight kills, 14 digs, one block assists and an ace.
"I'm really proud of the way we played, especially in the fourth set," said Chojnacki. "We wan to be comfortable in those situations later in the season, so this was a good test for us to battle like that. We have to keep this momentum going."
The Dolphins will return to the Sharp Center on Thursday, this time challenging Medgar Evers.
