Riverdale, NY - The hardest softball player to strike out in the nation calls Riverdale home. 

Freshman standout Samantha Aviles, who took the UMSV softball team by storm in 2025, was awarded the NCAA Division-III 'Toughest To Strike Out' Statistical Championship from this past season. Aviles, who started all 37 games at shortstop this season, did not strike out one time across 120 at-bats. 

The Los Angeles, California native finished second in Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year voting after becoming arguably the top hitter on the Dolphins roster. Aviles slashed an impressive .400/.438/.508 in 2025 while providing 48 hits (including six doubles, two triples and a home run), 26 RBI and 23 runs scored while hitting atop the lineup. 

Aviles is expected to be a cornerstone stalent on head coach Kevin Carbon's roster heading into her second season.
