Kevin Carbon enters his fourth season at the helm of the Dolphins softball program beginning in the 2025-26 academic school year. Carbon rook over for Miguel Justiniano, who was at the helm for the last two seasons ending in 2022.
Carbon has impressed over his first three seasons with the Dolphins, leading the team to the Skyline Conference Postseason Tournament each year while sporting a combined record of 52-62, with a conference mark of 26-27. He also serves as the head coach of both the men's and women's cross country teams.
"I am excited to take over this program and get back to where the program was a few years ago. UMSV was always one of the top teams in the Skyline and I plan to get back to that point," Carbon told UMSVAthletics.com. "My team goals for 2023 and beyond is to set the team up for success post college. I put a big emphasis on being a student first in student athlete. I would love to have every player on the academic honor roll."
Carbon made his way to Riverdale as a familiar face. The Carmel, New York native joined the coaching staff of Skyline Conference rival Sarah Lawrence College in 2014, where he worked as an assistant coach and specialized in working with pitchers and catchers, as well as recruiting, strength and conditioning and player development. Carbon was promoted to head coach of the Gryphons in February of 2019, leading the team to a 7-9 conference record, en route to the program's first appearance in the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament.
"I am thrilled that Kevin has joined UMSV to lead our Softball program," stated Phil Stern, Director of Athletics and Recreation. "His core values align with ours and he has experience within the Skyline Conference. Our student-athletes will have a great experience on and off the field under Kevin's leadership."
In addition to his duties as head coach at UMSV, Carbon also serves as a home inspector, as well as working for Major League Baseball.
"I am thankful for this opportunity to continue my coaching career and cannot wait to see where this program can get to," Carbon stated emphatically.
Carbon graduated from Mitchell College in 2013, where he was a four year member of the baseball program while also graduating Cum Laude. He currently resides in Carmel, New York with his wife Dominique and daughter Lucy.
