Dolphins Sweep Panthers, Finish Weekend 6-0

Purchase, NY - Winning was the name of the game for the CMSV softball program this weekend. The Dolphins opened Skyline play on Friday, emerging victorious against Sarah Lawrence, including a perfect game from senior Jocelyn Vega. They took the trip to Patchogue and took down St. Joseph's University Long Island in both contests, and concluded their weekend in Purchase to take on the Panthers. The Dolphins once again dominating the competition, winning both games by mercy rule and improving to 6-0 in conference play.

Junior pitcher Charlotte Kelly set the tone in the first game. The Newburgh, New York native took the ball for the Dolphins and dominated the Panthers, allowing just three hits while striking out six across five innings with zero runs allowed. The offense got rolling early and often, scoring all eight runs across the first two innings. Captain Katie Hutter was a boon to the team's offense, as she drove in two runs, while Vega, reigning conference Player of the Week, continued her hot streak with a perfect 3-for-3 stat line. Shaniya Serrano and Kaitlin Cirillo chipped in with two hits apiece in the victory.

It was freshman Savannah Autobee's turn to take the mound, and she picked up right where Kelly left off. The first year hurler threw four innings for head coach Kevin Carbon, allowing just two hits with seven punch outs.  Seven of the team's nine starters registered at least one hit, with Liana Cabeza and Simone Caruso leading the charge with two hits apiece. Caruso paced the Dolphins with two RBI, while nine other Dolphins recorded one RBI each.

The well-built and deep roster continues to impress the Skyline. They'll look to put their best foot forward this weekend against some of the conference's top challengers. They'll face off against Farmingdale on Saturday before hosting Mount Saint Mary on Sunday.
