Myrtle Beach, SC - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's softball team was back out on the Myrtle Beach diamond on Monday. The schedule changed due to weather - the Dolphins had to cancel their morning game against SUNY Cortland due to rain - but the skies cleared up for an afternoon contest against Division-II Mansfield University. The Dolphins struggled against the higher competition, with the final score reading 8-0 in favor of the Mountaineers.
The Dolphins offense was only able to register two hits in the five inning affair, with senior
Jocelyn Vega and freshman
Madyson Epps collecting one each. Junior
Kaitlin Cirillo and freshmen
Nichole Reyes and
Savannah Autobee each reached base with walks.
Speaking of Autobee, the first year pitcher made her second start for the Dolphins on Monday afternoon. Despite the loss, she held Mansfield to just one run between the second and fourth innings and struck out four batters along the way.
The Dolphins will be incredibly busy in 24 hours. In addition to their previously scheduled pair of games against Cairn University and UMass Boston, head coach
Kevin Carbon is making up for the cancelation against Cortland with a night game against Salem State.
