Cross Country Hits Trails For First Time In 2022

New Paltz, NY - The men's and women's cross country team took the course for the first time in the 2022 season on Friday when they competed in the SUNY New Paltz Invitational against both Skyline and non-conference opponents. The men's squad finished with 191 points, good for ninth, with the women finishing in seventh place (153 points). 

Dual sport athlete Carlos Martinez paced the Dolphins with a 35:27.5 time, good for 27th overall. Derrick Holley and Matthew Smajlaj also finished in the top 35, with Jeffrey Santana, Joseph Santana, Sean Goodwin and Rusbert Jimenez rounding out the group. 

On the women's side, Isabelle Bagon finished with a team best 8:16, while Catherine Amodio finished in the top 25 of runners. Jocelyn Vega, Kayla Hanley, Sofia Marcos and Shania Wolfe-White all aided in CMSV's efforts. 

Next up for the Dolphins is a meet hosted by St. Joseph's University-Long Island in Patchogue on September 30.
