Box Score Riverdale, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's basketball team played on their home court for the third straight game to start the 2019-20 season, this time taking on John Jay College. The Dolphins were looking to extend their winning streak to two straight games, and they did so in an impressive fashion when they came back from being down 20 points to win by the score of 66-65.
The game started off as a back and forth battle with both CMSV and John Jay forcing tough shots during various defensive situations. The Dolphins were particularly strong in this category, as they caused four turnovers and generated three steals. Up four points to begin the second quarter, the Bloodhounds went on impressive 12-0 run to make it 32-20. The Dolphins, however, didn't back down.

Ashley Martin and
Catherine Amodio scored nine combined points to cut the Bloodhounds lead, making it a three point game. From there, the home team went cold from the field, shooting just 17% from beyond the arc and trailed at the half by 12.
A pep talk from head coach
Phil Stern at the half inspired the Dolphins, as the team outscored their opponents 11-5, bringing them within six. But the Bloodhounds found their groove in the second half of the third, converting 43% of their shot attempts.
Despite CMSV's struggles throughout the first three quarters, the fourth quarter was the best brand of basketball this team has played thus far. The Dolphins outscored the Bloodhounds 24 to 10, which including going a perfect seven for seven from the charity stripe, and saw big time baskets from Brice,
Aria Rheams and Virginia Olivera in the closing minutes to make it a one possession game. After the Dolphins' defense caused a turnover with seconds to spare, it was Brice who forced her way into the lane, causing a foul with two seconds on the clock down one. The first-year senior made both free throws with ease, ensuring the team's impressive come from behind win.
For the Dolphins, it was Brice once again who led the team with 28 points while grabbing five rebounds and dishing out four assists. Martin paced all players with 13 boards while
Aria Rheams did her best on defense with three steals to go along with 18 points and nine rebounds.
Now at 2-1 on the season, the CMSV will look to get continue their winning ways. That will come at an opportune time, as Stern and the Dolphins begin Skyline Conference play in their next matchup when they take a short road trip to take on Yeshiva University on November 23.
