Dolphins Stifled By Knights In Newburgh

Newburgh, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent women's basketball team battled hard on the road in their latest Skyline Conference showdown, but ultimately fell 67-53 to Mount Saint Mary College.

The Dolphins struggled to find offensive rhythm at times, shooting just over 34% from the floor and finishing with 53 points. There were , however, strong individual efforts that stood out for head coach Maria Di Domenico.

Junior Michaela Ligon continued her standout junior campaign, leading the way with a game-high 22 points, knocking down seven field goals and stepping up at the free-throw line to help keep UMSV competitive through the early stages. Sophomore Grace Kennedy also had a strong showing, putting up 16 rebounds along with 13 points, showcasing her activity on the glass and her ability to score both in the paint and from mid-range.

Freshman Grace Giacinto delivered a strong overall performance with eight points, four boards, three assists and a game-high six steals, showcasing her abilities on both ends of the floor. Kyla McLean chipped in with three points, and Hailey Shalor added two points of her own with hustle plays down the stretch.

UMSV will next head out to Long Island to challenge Old Westbury with the hopes of returning to the win column.
