Box Score Riverdale, N.Y. - On Saturday afternoon where the College of Mount Saint Vincent's athletic department took time to honor graduating seniors on the women's lacrosse team, the hope was the team would have an added incentive to capture their first Skyline victory of the season. Unfortunately, however, the Old Westbury Panthers proved to be too strong of a match, as they went on to defeat the Dolphins by the score of 20-8.
After the first draw of the game, CMSV got on the board quick as senior
Alicia Forgione scored within the first minute of play, giving the Dolphins an early one goal advantage. But the Panthers turned it around quickly, as they scored the next five goals and never looked back. Before the first half concluded, freshman
Emma Dell'Aquila successfully converted two shot attempts but the Dolphins still trailed by 10 going into halftime.
While the second half was similar to the first, CMSV did get more of an offensive push. Forgione scored her second goal of the game in a man-up opportunity. In addition to that score,
Paulina Mandujano scored twice while
Meg Merrell and
Shannon Dalton also put the ball past the goaltender.
The loss gives the Dolphins a 3-7 overall record in 2018. They will look for their first victory within the conference when they take on Farmingdale on Tuesday. The game is scheduled for a 4:00 PM start.
