Newburgh, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent made their long awaited return to the Skyline Conference Postseason Tournament on Saturday and were placed in a first round showdown with Mount Saint Mary College. The Dolphins put together a competitive effort but ultimately fell 9-4. They finish their season with an overall record of 3-9.Â
The Dolphins responded early after conceding the opening goal, with Second Team All-Conference selection AB Burnett scoring unassisted to even the game at 1-1. Burnett struck again in the second quarter on a man-up opportunity, finishing a feed from fellow Second Team All Conference attacker Ella Meberg to keep UMSV within one heading into halftime.
In the third quarter, Divana Carillo brought the Dolphins back within a goal, converting off an assist from Brittany Boyle. UMSV continued to battle into the fourth, where Isabelle Gurley added another unassisted tally to cut into the deficit. The Knights would answer with two more goals down the stretch, resulting in the win.Â
Makenna Reekie, a First Team All Skyline selection for the second straight year, made 10 saves in the loss while adding a team-best 11 ground balls and two caused turnovers. Isabelle Gurley added four ground balls, three draw controls and a caused turnover of her own.Â
The Dolphins showed an immense amount of progress this season and will have their eyes set on a Skyline crown in 2027.Â
