Box Score Riverdale, N.Y. - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's lacrosse team played their first home game on Marillac Field on Wednesay, with the hopes that a true home-field advantage would give them their first conference win of 2018. Unfortunately, the United States Merchant Marine Academy had other ideas, as they went on to defeat the Dolphins by the score of 11-6. CMSV now sits at 3-4 on the season, including an 0-2 record against Skyline competition.
The Dolphins fought valiantly but failed to take a lead after the Mariners scored the first two goals of the game. In the first half,
Amy Cohen and
Emma Dell'Aquila and both successfully scored, with
Meg Merrell assisting on the latter point. After heading back onto the field after halftime trailing by three, USMMA rattled off five straight goals to put the game out of reach.
Paulina Mandujano,
Shannon Dalton and Merrell combined for the final four goals of the game, with Dell'Aquila picking up the lone assist. Goalkeeper
Allyson Weakliem made 14 saves in the loss.
The Dolphins will get another crack at a Skyline Conference win on Saturday with a road trip to Maritime taking place.
