Glassboro, N.J. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team closed out play at the Profs Invitational on Saturday with a pair of four set losses. The Mount fell to Marymount by scores of 25-16, 18-25, 16-25, 11-25 before dropping a 16-25, 11-25, 25-20, 14-25 decision to Bryn Mawr to close out the tournament. Senior Ashleigh Scozzari (New Rochelle, N.Y.) led the Mount with 24 kills on the day.
 
Mount Saint Vincent got off to a quick start against Marymount, putting away 14 kills and hitting .481 in the opening set. The Dolphins committed just one attack error in the opening frame, with Scozzari and Zana Daluz (Pawtucket, R.I.) combining for 11 kills in 16 attempts.
 
The Dolphins would combine for 14 kills over the next two set and hit -.059 in the fourth set. After committing just one miscue in the first set, Mount Saint Vincent committed 15 errors over the remaining three sets, including seven in the fourth frame.
 
Scozzai reached double-figures in kills for the fourth time in five matches against Marymount, leading the team with 13 kills while hitting .321. Daluz and Maria Leineweber (Waimanalo, Hawaii) each recorded eight kills in the match, with Leineweber adding six digs and a pair of service aces.
 
Sophomore Nicole Henderson (Bergenfield, N.J.) handed out 26 assists for the Dolphins with Jennifer Roman (Queens Village, N.Y.) adding six digs and a pair of aces. Kristine Javier (Fair Lawn, N.J.) led the team with 12 digs.
 
Marymount received 11 kills from Emleigh Rettig and 10 winners from Mallory Mitchell in the victory. Caroline Hanson led all players with 31 assists and Rettig paced all players with 19 digs.
 
Overall in the match, Marymount held the advantage in kills 56-33, while service aces in the match were even at 6-6. Marymount hit .282 as a team in the contest and held the edge in total team blocks 4.5-3.0.

After dropping the first two sets of the second match of the day, the Dolphins rebounded to take the third frame on the strength of 13 kills and a .290 team hitting percentage. Scozzari recorded seven kills in the set and hit .600.
 
Scozzari finished the match with 11 winners for the Mount and three blocks, with Leineweber producing nine kills, two aces and equaled the team-high with 17 digs. Sophomore Jane Greer (Bronx, N.Y.) chipped in with seven kills for the Dolphins.
 
Henderson rounded out a solid day with 25 assists, six digs and three kills. Javier joined Leineweber with 17 digs, with Daluz and Roman each recording a pair of service aces.
 
Bryn Mawr was led by a match-high 15 kills from Noemi Moreno who closed a double-double effort with 19 digs. Sarah Gates added 14 kills, with Allie Nagleski lifting a match-high 23 digs. Zoe Holman handed out a team-high 24 assists and lifted four digs.
 
Bryn Mawr finished the tilt with a 51-37 edge in kills and hit .245 as a team as opposed to a .087 effort from the Dolphins. The Owls also held the advantage in aces 10-6, while the Dolphins won the blocking battle 4-3.
 
Following Saturday's results, Mount Saint Vincent stands at 0-5 overall on the season. Next up for the Dolphins is a trip to Rutgers-Newark on September 8. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
