Farmingdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team opened Skyline Conference play on Saturday afternoon with a 12-2 road loss at Farmingdale State. Freshman
Kayla Carigliano (Clarkstown, N.Y.) scored both Mount Saint Vincent goals and added four draw controls.

After the Rams netted two goals inside the first minute of play on Saturday, Carigliano brought the Mount to within 2-1 with her first of the game at the 27:11 mark of the first half. She finished off a pass from
Shannon Steimel (Shoreham, N.Y.) who recorded her third assist of the season.

Following the Carigliano marker, Farmingdale State closed the half with six straight goals and scored the next seven goals overall to move in front 9-1 with 25:37 left in regulation time. Carigliano got the Mount back on the board with her second of the day with 13:14 left in the game, before Farmingdale State scored three times in the final 6:47 to close out the scoring in the game.

With her two goals on Saturday, Cariglinao moved into a tie for the team lead in goals with nine and stands third on the team in points with 16. She won four of the team's five draw controls in the game and added two groundballs.

Sophomore
Rachel Steimel (Shoreham, N.Y.) led the Dolphins with four groundballs with
Sophia Cunningham (Flushing, N.Y.) and Jacqueline Torres posted two caused turnovers apiece.

Farmingdale State was led by Christy Thoden who scored two goals and assisted on another. She closed a strong game with four groundballs, four caused turnovers and five draw controls.

Senior
Kacie McCormack (Mahopac, N.Y.) made 13 saves on the day for the Mount, posting at least 10 saves in a game for the third time this season. She added two groundballs in the game for the Dolphins. Krista Spagnoletta picked up the win with two stops.

Farmingdale State closed the day with a 33-4 advantage in shots and a 33-15 edge in groundballs. The Rams won 11 of the 16 draw controls, while the Mount went 4-for-25 in clearing attempts and closed the day with 31 turnovers.

With the loss, Mount Saint Vincent falls to 1-4 overall and to 0-1 in Skyline Conference play. Next up for the Mount is a non-conference matchup with Kean on Monday. Opening Draw with the Cougars at the Torne Valley Sports Complex is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
