Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team dropped a 15-4 non-conference decision to visiting King's (Pa.) on Wednesday evening. Freshman Gabby Bravo (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored two goals for the Dolphins and senior Kacie McCormack (Mahopac, N.Y.) finished the day with 15 saves in goal.
 
King's raced out to a quick 6-0 lead, netting the first six goals of the game over the first 18:15 of the first half. Gabriella Morrocu got the scoring started with her first goal of the game 30 seconds into the contest and Anastasia Araviakis netted three goals and added an assist over the opening stretch.
 
Mount Saint Vincent got on the board at the 11:04 mark of the first half when Kelly Fraser (Staten Island, N.Y.) potted her eighth goal of the season. Bravo scored her first of the game in the final 10 seconds of the first half to get Mount Saint Vincent to within 7-2 at halftime.
 
The Monarchs carried the play in the opening period, outshooting Mount Saint Vincent 22-5 overall and 16-4 in shots on target. King's picked up 20 groundballs in the first half, while the Mount won six of the 10 draw controls taken.
 
Coming out of halftime, King's scored the first seven goals of the second half to open a commanding 14-2 lead. Shannon Steimel (Shoreham, N.Y.) stopped the scoring run with her ninth goal of the season with 10:25 left in regulation and Bravo closed out the scoring in the game, finishing off a feed from Kayla Carigliano (Clarkstown, N.Y.) with 30 seconds left in the contest.
 
Bravos scored the first two goals of her career in the game and added three groundballs and a caused turnover. Steimel netted her team leading ninth goal of the season also picking up three groundballs. Ardiana Mehmetaj (North Salem, N.Y.) won a team-high four draw controls for the Dolphins and Rachel Steimel (Shoreham, N.Y.) equaled the team-high with three groundballs, adding a caused turnovers.
 
King's was led by five goals and six points from Araviakis and got four goals from Morrocu. Kendra McCoy added a goal to a game-high seven groundballs and Hayley Greenwood won six draw controls.
 
McCormack suffered the loss in goal for the Mount, adding three groundballs to her 15 saves. She stopped nine shots for the Mount prior to halftime. Victoria Zawacki earned the win with four saves for the Monarchs.
 
For the game, Mount Saint Vincent was outshot 37-10 overall and 30-8 in shots on goal. King's also held the edge in groundballs 33-19 and draw controls 11-10.
 
With the loss, Mount Saint Vincent falls to 1-3 overall on the season. The Dolphins will open Skyline Conference play on Saturday when they travel to Farmingdale State. Opening Draw with the Rams is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
