Danbury, Conn. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team fell to 1-2 on the road this season with a 4-1 loss at Western Connecticut on Sunday afternoon. Freshman forward
Dennis Reyes (Waldwick, N.J.) scored the Mount's lone goal, his team leading sixth of the season.

For the fifth time in as many games to start the season, Mount Saint Vincent surrendered the first goal of the game and for the second straight game found itself trailing 2-0. Phil Dagostino opened the scoring for the Colonials at the 6:07 mark of the game and Cole Hyla later netted the game winner at 15:44 off a pass from Lucas Saunders.

Mount Saint Vincent would slice its deficit in half late in the first period when Reyes connected on his sixth goal of the season. He scored at the 39:51 mark for the Dolphins and has now tallied in three of his first five career games. Reyes has four goals in the last two games for the Dolphins and holds the team lead in points with 14.

Western Connecticut doubled up the Mount in shots over the first half, 12-6 and also held a 4-0 edge in corner kicks.

The Colonials would pull away late in the second half with the only two goals of the period to earn the three goal victory. Shane Pugliese got the third Western Connecticut goal in the 64
th minute off a feed from Hyla and Hyla closed out the scoring in the 82
nd minute with his third goal of the season off a pass from Pugliese.

Hyla closed out the game with five points for Western Connecticut on a pair of goals and a helper with Dagostino leading the team in shots with five. Pugliese came off the bench to finish with three points for the Colonials.

Reyes led Mount Saint Vincent with four shots on the day, including three shots on goal. He was the only player for the Dolphins with more than one shot in the contest.
Sophomore
David Melchor (Los Angeles, Calif.) took the loss in goal for Mount Saint Vincent after allowing four goals, matching his season-high for goals allowed. He made seven stops for the Dolphins on the day. Austin Tierney made five saves for Western Connecticut to earn the victory.

Mount Saint Vincent was outshot in the game 23-13 overall and 11-6 in shots on goal. Corner kicks went the way of the Colonials 8-1, while fouls were whistled 14-10 against the Dolphins.

Sunday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 2-3 overall on the season. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Wednesday when they open Skyline Conference play against Yeshiva. Kick-off at the Athletic Field at Marillac I set for 4:30 p.m.
