Dolphins fall to 0-7 all-time in Skyline Conference Tournament

Farmingdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team saw its season come to an end on Wednesday afternoon with an 18-0 loss at top seeded Farmingdale State in the Semifinal Round of the Skyline Conference Tournament. Junior Kacie McCormack (Mahopac, N.Y.) made a season-high 17 saves in goal for the Dolphins.
 
The Rams started the scoring early on Wednesday when Lisa Olen scored 37 seconds into the contest with the eventual game winning goal. The goal was the first of eight for Farmingdale State in the first 19:39 of the game, with Christy Thoden scoring twice and assisting on two other goals.
 
The top seed in the 2014 tournament would go on to add six more goals in the final 19:53 of the half to take a commanding 14-0 lead into the intermission. The Rams outshot Mount Saint Vincent 25-5 in the first 30 minutes of play and won 14 of the 15 draw controls in the first stanza.
 
Mount Saint Vincent would manage just five more shots in the second half on Wednesday as Farmingdale State recorded the only four goals of the second period. Thoden added a goal and an assist in the second half.
 
Farmingdale State finished the game with 10 different players in the scoring column with Thoden posting seven points on three goals and four assists. Nicole Marzocca totaled two goals and four assists for the Rams and Jackie Kennedy scored twice and helped on three other goals.
 
Marzocca and Sarah Gerner each picked up a team-high three groundballs in the game with Gerner causing three turnovers. Thoden led all players with 14 draw controls.
 
Senior Colleen Walsh (Manchester, Vt.) paced Mount Saint Vincent with four groundballs in the game and classmate Laura Carr (Franklin Square, N.Y.) added three for the Dolphins. Shannon Steimel (Shoreham, N.Y.) won the Dolphins' only draw control in the game.
 
McCormack reached double figures in saves for the 10th time this season with her 17 stops on Wednesday. She added two groundballs and two caused turnovers in the game for the Dolphins. Krista Spagnoletta picked up the win for Farmingdale State after making a pair of saves in just under 34 minutes of action.
 
For the game, the Rams held a 41-10 advantage in shots and a 35-4 edge in shots on goal. Groundballs went to the Rams 23-14 and Farmingdale State dominated draw controls 19-1.
 
Wednesday's loss ends Mount Saint Vincent's season with a 5-9 overall record.
 
Game Notes: Wednesday was the Mount's first appearance in the Skyline Conference Tournament since 2011…Mount Saint Vincent is 4-7 all-time against Farmingdale State…Wednesday was the fourth time in program history the Mount has been shutout in a game with the last time occurring on 4/23/09 against #5 TCNJ (L, 16-0).
