Farmingdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team returned to Skyline Conference play on Saturday afternoon with a tough 2-1 overtime loss on the road at Farmingdale State. Freshman midfielder
Jaime Salazar (Long Beach, Calif.) scored for the fourth time this season and
David Melchor (Los Angeles, Calif.) made eight saves.

Farmingdale State would break a scoreless tie on Saturday in the 30
th minute when Victor Romero scored an unassisted goal to put the Rams in front 1-0. He buried a shot from 25 yards out that sailed over Melchor's head to put Mount Saint Vincent down a goal.

The Romero goal would stand as the only marker of the first 45 minutes, with Farmingdale State holding a 17-2 advantage in shots before halftime and a 6-0 edge in corner kicks. Melchor finished the period with six stops.

The Dolphins would get the equalizer early in the second half when Salazar found the back of the net for the fourth time this season and for the third time in the team's last four outings. He received a pass from
Dennis Reyes (Waldwick, N.J.) and worked his way around the Ram backline to score to the right post. The assist was Reyes' third of the season.

The Salazar marker would be the only goal of the second as the Dolphins held Farmingdale State to just five shots, outshooting the Rams 7-5 in the stanza. Melchor rounded out regulation time with two more saves for the Mount.

Farmingdale State wasted little time getting the game winner in the first overtime period, with James Curley finding the back of the net just 1:24 into the first extra period. He finished off a pass from John Kender to give the home standing Rams their first conference win of the season.

Mount Saint Vincent was outshot in the game 23-9 and the Rams finished with a 6-2 edge in corner kicks. Reyes led the Dolphins with four shots in the game, while
Andrew Gomez (Sun City, Calif.) was the only other Mount Saint Vincent player with more than one shot, getting away two in the contest.

Melchor matched his season-high for saves in a game, making eight in a contest for the third time this year. Robert Tucker earned the win for the Rams, making eight stops in the victory.

Saturday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 5-7 overall on the season, to 2-2 in conference play and to 1-1 in overtime contests. The Dolphins will be back in action again on October 9 for a conference contest on the road at Mount Saint Mary. Kick-off with the Knights is set for 7:00 p.m.
