Yonkers, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse squad dropped its fourth straight game on Saturday afternoon with a 19-4 loss to Montclair State.
Nicole Flores (Bethpage, N.Y.) finished up the game with two goals and four draw controls.
The Red Hawks got out to an early advantage after Vanessa Rey opened the scoring just 12 seconds into the game. Montclair State went on to score the first four goals of the game, before Flores got the Dolphins on the board at the 20:52 mark of the first half.
After back-to-back goals from Kailee Beal and Jenna Busiere from Montclair State,
Laura Carr (Franklin Square, N.Y.) scored her ninth goal of the season to cut the Dolphins deficit to 6-2 with 15:17 left in the opening stanza.
Samantha Ramsden (Warren, R.I.) got the Dolphins to within 7-3 before the Red Hawks scored five of the final six goals of the half to take a 12-4 lead into the halftime intermission.
Montclair State went on to outscore Mount Saint Vincent 7-0 in the second half and held the Dolphins to just three shots as it moved to 10-1 overall and 6-0 in league play. Kasey Maguire and Krissa Henderson each scored twice for the Red Hawks after halftime.
Maguire finished the game with five goals and Kelly Schoneveld added four goals and an assist. Montclair State finished the game with six players with at least two goals with Beal adding three and an assist. Beal led the Red Hawks with six draw controls and Kara Crampton picked up five groundballs.
Flores scored her 14
th and 15
th goals of the season in the game and now leads the Mount with 22 points on the season. She won half of the team's draw controls on Saturday with
Colleen Walsh (Manchester, Vt.) leading the team in groundballs with seven and caused turnovers with three.
Tiffani Henderson picked up the victory in goal on Saturday for Montclair State after making seven stops, while
Kacie McCormack (Mahopac, N.Y.) made three saves for the Dolphins.
For the game, Montclair State held the edge in shots 38-15, groundballs 26-21 and draw controls 17-8.
Saturday's loss sends Mount Saint Vincent to 3-7 overall on the season and to 1-4 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will look to snap their skid on Wednesday when they host Sage. Opening Draw is slated for 4:00 p.m.
