Women’s Lacrosse Cruises Past USMMA On Senior Day

Colletti, Flores combine eight goals and 10 points

New York, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team closed out the 2013 season on Sunday afternoon with a 19-3 win over the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Senior Day. Seniors Sarah Colletti (Mansfield, Mass.) and Nicole Flores (Bethpage, N.Y.) each tallied four goals in the win.
 
Mount Saint Vincent got out of the gate quickly on Sunday, scoring twice in the first three minutes. Kelly Fraser (Staten Island, N.Y.) got the scoring started and Flores scored her first of four on the day at the 27:48 mark.
 
The Dolphins carried a 13-0 lead into halftime on Sunday and saw eight different players score a goal. Colletti and Fraser each scored three times in the opening 30 minutes and Flores scored twice, including the 150th point of her career.
 
The Mount went on to outscore the Mariners 6-3 in the second half and saw Flores add two more goals and Colletti net her fourth of the game. Tara Maltbie (Garnerville, N.Y.), Kaitlyn Gaynor (Island Park, N.Y.) and Melina Mezzonotte (Shirley, N.Y.) all added second half markers for the Mount.
 
In all, Mount Saint Vincent had 10 different goal scorers in the game with Colletti leading the way with four goals and two assists. Mezzonotte scored twice in the game and Fraser added three makers.
 
Flores rounded out the game with two groundballs and seven draw controls with Samantha Ramsden (Warren, R.I.) adding a goal and scooping five groundballs. Colleen Walsh (Manchester, Vt.) caused three turnovers and won four draw controls for the Dolphins to go along with a goal.
 
Kacie McCormack (Mahopac, N.Y.) picked up the victory in goal for Mount Saint Vincent and was forced to make only three saves. Kelly Allison made 10 stops in defeat for the Mariners.
 
Mount Saint Vincent finished the afternoon with the edge in every statistical category. The Dolphins outshot USMMA 40-9, won the groundball battle 22-15 and took draw controls 17-7.
 
Sunday's victory closes Mount Saint Vincent's season with a 7-9 overall record.
