Farmingdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team dropped its second straight game and its third in the last four following a 16-2 defeat on the road at Farmingdale State Wednesday afternoon.
Samantha Ramsden (Warren, R.I.) and
Colleen Walsh (Manchester, Vt.) each tallied for the Dolphins.
Mount Saint Vincent found itself down early on Wednesday when Jackie Kennedy scored for the Rams just 19 seconds into the contest. The Rams went on the score seven times in the first 10 minutes on their way to a 13-0 lead at halftime.
Farmingdale State outshot Mount Saint Vincent 22-2 in the opening 30 minutes and won 11 of the 14 draw controls. Christy Thoden paced the Rams' scoring output before halftime with three goals.
Ramsden got the Dolphins on the board with 19:56 left in regulation time with her 10
th goal of the season before Walsh added her third of the campaign with 5:21 left to play in the tilt.
Farmingdale State finished the game with 10 different goal scorers, including five players with at least two goals. Thoden finished with four points after adding an assist to her three first half goals. Nicole Marzocca finished the day with six points after scoring twice and assisting on four other goals.
Thoden closed the game with a team-high five groundballs for the Rams and caused eight turnovers. She also paced the team with five draw controls for Farmingdale State.
Ramsden added three groundballs and three caused turnovers to her goal, with Walsh collecting a draw control.
Gabriella Astorino (Warwick, N.Y.) picked up two groundballs for the Dolphins.
Kacie McCormack (Mahopac, N.Y.) finished the day with 13 saves, including seven in the second half. Thalia Medina saw the bulk of the action in goal for the Rams and made three saves in earning the win.
Farmingdale State closed the game with a 33-12 edge in shots, including a 29-7 advantage in shots on goal. The Rams also led in groundballs 20-7 and in draw controls 15-4.
Wednesday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 3-5 overall on the season and to 1-3 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will step out of conference on Thursday when they travel to Bridgewater State. Opening Draw is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
