Fraser totals seven points, Carr scores four times

Yonkers, N.Y. – Paced by six goals and seven points from Kelly Fraser (Staten Island, N.Y.) and four goals from Laura Carr (Franklin Square, N.Y.), the College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team cruised to a 15-3 win over Cedar Crest on Sunday afternoon.
 
After a sluggish start to the game, the Dolphins struck first with back-to-back tallies from Carr to open a 2-0 lead. Carr's first marker game with the Dolphins a player short at the 18:31 mark and her second tally came just over three minutes later.
 
The visiting Falcons cut the disadvantage in half on a goal from Emily Rodenberger with 11:34 left in the first half, before the Dolphins closed the period with five straight goals to carry a 7-1 lead into the intermission. Samantha Ramsden (Warren, R.I.) and Nicole Flores (Bethpage, N.Y.) each scored twice over that stretch for the Mount.
 
Mount Saint Vincent continued its scoring run with the first four goals of the second stanza to pull in front 11-1. Carr opened the scoring after halftime with her fourth of the game and Fraser tallied three straight times in a minute and a half to build to lead to 10 goals.
 
Cedar Crest got consecutive goals from Amy Frey and Vivianna Samite in the middle stages of the second half to pull to within 11-3, but Fraser scored three times in the final 10:20 and Flores added her third of the game with 44 seconds left to secure the Mount's first win of the season.
 
Fraser scored all six of her goals after halftime and assisted on Flores' first goal of the game to reach seven points. She now leads the team in goals with 13 and points with 14. Fraser rounded out the day with four draw controls, a pair of groundballs and a caused turnover.
 
Carr had a strong afternoon for the Dolphins after adding seven groundballs and three caused turnovers to her scoring output. Colleen Walsh (Manchester, Vt.) also scooped seven groundballs and caused a game-high four turnovers for the Dolphins.
 
Flores finished up the day with six points after scoring three times and assisting on three other goals. She won three draw controls on the day for the Mount. Ramsden closed the day with a pair of markers and led the team with six draw controls to go along with five groundballs.
 
Kacie McCormack (Mahopac, N.Y.) picked up the win in goal for Mount Saint Vincent with four saves and a groundball. Her counterpart from Cedar Crest, Kim Katsigianis, stopped 25 Mount Saint Vincent shots and picked up a game-high eight groundballs.
 
The Dolphins ended the game with the advantage in every team category, including a 52-10 edge in shots. The Dolphins picked up 40 groundballs to 28 for the Falcons and won 16 of the 20 draw controls that were contested.
 
Sunday's victory pushes Mount Saint Vincent to 1-2 overall on the season. The Dolphins will return to action looking to reach the .500 mark on Tuesday when they travel to USMMA-Kings Point to open a six game road swing. Opening Draw is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
