Troy, N.Y. – Led by
Kelly Fraser's (Staten Island, N.Y.) team leading sixth double-double of the season and a career-high 10 points from
Yen Pham (Queens, N.Y.), the College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Basketball team snapped a five game losing streak and picked up its first league win with a 57-39 road win at Sage on Tuesday.
The Dolphins trailed by three points twice in the early going on Tuesday, but pulled in front for good on the night with a
Jessica Sepp (Bronx, N.Y.) bucket with just under eight minutes left in the opening period.
The Sepp bucket started a 10-1 run for the Dolphins to end the half as they went to the locker room with a 26-18 advantage. The halftime lead was the ninth time this season the Mount held the advantage after 20 minutes of play.
After converting on just three field goal attempts in the opening period against Mount Saint Mary on Sunday, the Mount went 11-for-30 from the field in the first period on Tuesday and outscored Sage in the paint 16-8. Junior
Tanisha Montague (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Dolphins with nine points in the half.
Sepp pushed the Mount Saint Vincent lead to double-figures for the first time in the game with a jumper early in the second half. Leading 28-18, the Dolphins saw Sage score the next seven points to climb back to within three points on a Megan Bowman lay-in at the 16:18 mark.
Mount Saint Vincent answered the Sage run with a 12-0 stretch of its own to pull in front 40-25 with 11:37 remaining in the contest. Pham and Fraser sparked the run with four points each for the Dolphins.
The 12 straight points would be the deciding run in the game, as the Mount would not allow Sage closer then 13 points the rest of the night. A pair of free-throws from Pham at the 3:06 mark would get the Dolphins in front by 20 and a Fraser conversion at the 2:35 mark gave the Dolphins their largest lead of the night at 57-35.
Mount Saint Vincent shot an impressive 48-percent from the floor in the second half and went 7-for-11 from the free-throw line on its way to outscoring the Gators by 10 after halftime. For the night the Dolphins shot 41.8-percent from the field, marking the first time they have converted at least 40-percent from the floor in their last five outings.
Fraser finished the night 8-for-13 from the floor on her way to game-highs in points with 17 and rebounds with 16. She scored 12 points in the second half for the Dolphins and also added five blocks, a pair of steals and two assists.
Montague closed a strong game with 13 points on 5-for-12 shooting and also added five boards and three helpers. Pham rounded out a trio in double-figures on 3-for-6 shooting from the floor and a 4-for-5 effort from the free-throw line. She also added three assists for the Dolphins.
Sepp finished the night with six points off the bench, with

Sage was held to 22.7-percent shooting overall in the game and was also bested by the Dolphins in the paint 28-26 and in bench scoring 24-5.
Tuesday's win moves Mount Saint Vincent to 7-17 overall on the season and to 1-12 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will round out the 2012-13 season on Saturday when they travel to NYU-POLY. Tip-off with the Jays is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
