Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Basketball team closed out the home schedule on Sunday afternoon with a 63-35 loss to Mount Saint Mary. Sophomore Kelly Fraser (Staten Island, N.Y.) was the only Dolphin to score in double-figures with 11 points.
 
Mount Saint Vincent struggled to score the entire afternoon and was held to just three field goals in the first half. The Dolphins were held scoreless until a pair of Yen Pham (Queens, N.Y.) free-throws five minutes into the contest.
 
The Mount would go eight more minutes before it got is first field goal, when Pham converted a lay-in with just under seven minutes showing on the clock. The visiting Knights would take advantage with a 14-2 spurt over that stretch to pull in front 17-4.
 
Mount Saint Vincent would not get its second field goal until the 2:03 mark when Jessica Sepp (Bronx, N.Y.) hit a jumper, before Mount Saint Mary closed the stanza with nine of the final 11 points to head into the intermission with a 32-9 lead.
 
Pham led the Dolphins with four points at the half, as the Dolphins shot 15-percent from the floor. The Mount also was forced into 19 turnovers which led to a 22-2 edge in points off of giveaways for the Knights.
 
Barbara Binet (Brooklyn, N.Y.) converted a lay-in for the first bucket of the second half, but the 21 point deficit would be as close as the Dolphins would get the rest of the night. A 17-10 stretch for Mount Saint Mary would give it its largest lead of the day after a Natalie Candarelli free-throw moved it in front 58-28 with 5:06 left.
 
The Dolphins converted seven field goals in the second half and finished the game 10-for-49 from the floor overall and 1-for-9 from behind the arc. The Dolphins had an efficient day at the charity stripe, going 14-for-19.
 
Fraser scored all 11 of her team-high point total after the half and also secured three rebounds to go along with a pair of assists and four blocks. Pham added seven points and three boards, with Sepp adding six caroms.
 
Candarelli finished with a game-high 17 points and eight rebounds for Mount Saint Mary, with Lauren Romao adding 16 tallies. Charneice McCullough handed out a game-high six assists for the Knights, with Amanda Smith scoring six points and securing six rebounds.
 
The Knights shot a shade under 45-percent as a team and connected on seven three-point field goals. Mount Saint Mary finished with a 31-7 advantage in points off of turnovers and a 13-2 edge in fast break points.
 
The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 6-17 overall, 3-10 at home and to 0-12 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will take to the road on Tuesday when they travel to Sage. Tip-off with the Gators is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
