Brooklyn, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team had its three match winning streak snapped on Saturday with losses against league rivals NYU-POLY and Mount Saint Mary. The Dolphins fell to the host Jays by scores of 21-25, 18-25, 11-25 and then to the Knights by scores of 15-25, 23-25, 25-20 and 26-28.
In the opener against NYU-POLY on Saturday, junior
Morganne Booker (East Providence, R.I.) led the offensive attack with nine kills and a .438 attack percentage. She also totaled five blocks for the Dolphins.
Carly Jenkinson (Pacifica, Calif.) returned to the Mount Saint Vincent lineup against the Jays and lifted a team-high nine digs for the Dolphins, while
Zana Daluz (Pawtucket, R.I.) led the Mount with two of the team's five service aces and 14 assists.
NYU-POLY received 13 kills in the match from Corey Loupee and a blistering .579 hitting percentage as the Jays hit .381 as a team. Kaitlyn Lastkowski and Shelby Bruns each put away nine kills in the match, with Lastkowski leading the team with 13 digs.
In the second match of the day, Mount Saint Vincent dropped three hard fought sets to the Knights. Booker had her second impressive match of the day after totaling a season-high 16 kills and hitting .412. Booker finished the match with five more blocks to go along with seven digs.
Freshman
Ashleigh Scozzari (New Rochelle, N.Y.) reached double-figures in kills with 10 for the Dolphins and also registered a pair of blocks. Daluz completed a strong all-round day with 26 assists, three kills and four digs for the Mount.
Jenkinson led Mount Saint Vincent with 16 digs against the Knights and
Kristine DeMasi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) registered seven kills and six digs.
Mount Saint Mary had a trio of players lead its offensive attack with 10 kills. Lauren Halverson handed out a match-high 38 assists and also led all players with 19 digs.
With Saturday's results, Mount Saint Vincent drops back to the .500 mark overall on the season at 5-5 and falls to 1-2 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will look to rebound on Tuesday when they host Sage at the Peter Jay Sharp Center. Match time with the Gators is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
