Dolphins Shutout By Panthers In Skyline Opener

Yonkers, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team was dealt a 4-0 loss on Saturday night by league rival Purchase. Junior goalkeeper Barkel Foster (New York, N.Y.) finished the game with four saves for the Dolphins.
 
Purchase got off to a fast start on Saturday, scoring two goals inside the first six minutes of play. Blaise Bourgeois got the eventual game winner when he cleaned up the rebound of a blocked shot by Kevin Riveros at the 4:11 mark of the contest.
 
The Panthers quickly doubled the lead at 5:39 when Andres Romero took a centering pass from Junior Sanguina and drove a shot home to the center of the net. Mount Saint Vincent then found itself trailing by three in the 35th minute when Sanguina connected off a feed from Chris Beckett.
 
The Dolphins would tighten things up coming out of halftime until Romero closed out the scoring with his second of the night in the 65th minute. He dribbled through the backline and cashed in his sixth of the season for the Panthers.
 
Foster played a solid game in goal for the Dolphins after making four stops and now has seven saves on the young season. His counterpart from Purchase, Dylan Hyman, earned the shutout after making three stops.
 
Overall on the night, Mount Saint Vincent was outshot by Purchase 18-7. Tajay Simon (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) led the Dolphins with three attempts and Matthew Samaan (Manalapan, N.J.) finished the night with a pair of shots. Purchase also took three of the four corner kicks in the contest.
 
With the loss, Mount Saint Vincent falls to 2-2-1 overall on the season and to 0-1-0 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will look to get back on track on Wednesday when they travel to Mount Saint Mary. Kick-off with the Knights is set for 7:00 p.m.
