Montclair, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team had its two game winning streak stopped on Saturday afternoon with a 20-8 road loss at Montclair State. Freshman Kelly Fraser (Staten Island, N.Y.) paced the Dolphins with three goals and Diana Lawless (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) added two more for the Mount.
 
The Red Hawks came out flying on Saturday and scored the first eight goals of the game, with Kailee Beal capping the run with a goal with 20:26 left to play before the half. Nicole Flores (Bethpage, N.Y.) and Fraser would score back-to-back goals for the Dolphins to get them to within 8-2, but Montclair State closed the opening stanza with the final five goals to take a 15-4 lead into the break.
 
The Dolphins would be able to climb back to within nine goals in the second half following consecutive goals from Lawless and Fraser to open the period, but could manage only two more tallies the rest of the afternoon. The Red Hawks used a three goal spurt late in the game to open their largest lead of the day at 20-7.
 
Montclair State received four goals each from Beal, Cora Delfini and Tierney Conlon, with Conlon closing the day with 11 points on the strength of seven assists. Kelly Schoneveld also contributed three goals and three draw controls.
 
Beal rounded out the day with six points to go along with eight draw controls and a pair of groundballs. Kelcie Woram led the team with three groundballs, with Delfini also adding four draw controls.
 
With her scoring output on Saturday, Fraser had reached the 20 goal plateau in her rookie season and she also chipped in with a groundball for the Dolphins. Lawless rounded out the day with a pair of goals for the Mount.
 
Flores led the team with five draw controls and also added her team leading 36th goal of the year on Saturday. Senior Julia Caro (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) rounded out the day with a goal and a team-high three groundballs.
 
Junior Michelle Miller (Chester, Pa.) got the call in goal for the Mount on Saturday and finished the game with two saves in just over 39 minutes of work. Kacie McCormack (Mahopac, N.Y.) came on to play the final 21 minutes and stopped a pair of shots. Tiffani Henderson earned the win with seven saves for the Red Hawks.
 
Overall on Saturday, Montclair State outshot Mount Saint Vincent 31-24 and won the groundball battle 19-15. The Red Hawks also finished up 3-for-4 in free-position chances.
 
With Saturday's loss Mount Saint Vincent falls to 4-7 overall on the season and to 3-3 in league competition. The Dolphins will look to rebound on Monday afternoon when they travel to Centenary. Opening Draw for the non-conference contest is set for 4:00 p.m.
