Kelly Fraser (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored four times as the College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team scored its second straight league win with a 16-9 triumph at Maritime on Thursday.
Flores finished the game with six goals and 10 points and has now recorded 13 markers in the team's last two games. With Thursday's scoring output she now leads the team in goals with 35 and points with 45.
The Dolphins would fall behind only once in the game after Maritime got back-to-back goals from Natalie Jackson and Kristen Saporito just over a minute part inside the first 10 minutes of action on Thursday.
Mount Saint Vincent would respond with six straight goals, including three from Flores, to pull in front 7-2 with 5:15 left in the first half. Fraser would add a goal with 3:50 left in the period, before Maritime closed the half with two straight tallies to get to within 8-5 at the intermission.
The Dolphins would open the second stanza with three straight goals, including a pair from Fraser, to push their lead to 11-5 with just under 23 minutes showing on the clock. The Privateers would get as close as four goals in the second half, but the Mount tallied three of the final four goals of the game to win its second straight contest.
Fraser rounded out the night with a career-high four goals and added two groundballs and a caused turnover.
Julia Caro (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) was one of three Dolphins with multiple goals, with two markers.
In addition to leading the team in scoring, Flores won a game-high eight draw controls on Thursday and also picked up three groundballs.
Gabriella Astorino (Warwick, N.Y.) and Shyloh Edler (Ligonier, Pa.) each collected four groundballs and Astorino and
Samantha Ramsden (Warren, R.I.) each caused a pair of turnovers.
Maritime received three goals apiece from Catherine Brady and Saporito and a pair of markers from Megan White. Brady matched the game-high with eight draw controls and Saporito added seven for the Privateers.
Michelle Miller (Chester, Pa.) earned her second straight win in goal for the Dolphins after making 11 stops. She also collected a groundball for the Mount in the win. Her counterpart from Maritime, Laura Palino, stopped 12 shots and finished with a pair of groundballs.
For the night, Mount Saint Vincent outshot Maritime 37-25, including 20-11 after halftime, and also scooped 10 more groundballs after picking up 25. The Dolphins were also efficient on free-position chances after converting four of their seven.
The victory gives Mount Saint Vincent consecutive triumphs for the first time this season and moves it to 4-6 overall on the season and to 3-2 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will look for their third straight win on Saturday when they travel to Montclair St. Opening Draw with the Red Hawks is set for 1:00 p.m.
