Oceguera nets first career goal

Yonkers, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team was dealt its fourth straight loss on Tuesday night after falling to visiting Maritime 4-1. Freshman Andres Oceguera (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) scored his first career goals for the Dolphins in the contest.
 
After a tightly contested first half, Maritime finally broke through with the first goal of the game in the 36th minute. Nick Mast finished off a crossing pass to the far post from Jon Dubowyk at the 35:52 mark of the contest.
 
The one goal lead was doubled by the visitors in the 52nd minute when Patrick McCarty tallied for Maritime. He took a pass from Chris Anderson inside the box on the left side and tucked the shot inside the right post at 51:51.
 
Trailing by two goals, Mount Saint Vincent struck in the 61st minute to cut its deficit in half. Joseph Rosado (Highland Falls, N.Y.) touched a pass to Oceguera at the top of the box and he buried his first career marker inside the near post at 60:18.
 
Trying to level the score at two goals apiece in the second half, Mount Saint Vincent saw Maritime tally twice in the final 22 minute to pull away for the Skyline Conference victory. David Sparozic scored on a free kick from the top of the box at the 68:16 mark of the contest and Dubowyk put the game away with a score in the 83rd minute.
 
Dubowyk finished the night with three points for Maritime and was one of four different goal scorers. Kory Barone also finished the night with an assist.
 
Oceguera became the sixth different Dolphin to score a goal in 2012 and Rosado leads the team with four assists after his helper. Rosado has now tallied five points in the last three games for Mount Saint Vincent.
 
John Dunne played 60:55 in net for Maritime on Tuesday and made all three saves in earning the victory. Juan Alatriste saw the bulk of action for Mount Saint Vincent in the game and finished up with five stops.
 
The Privateers finished the match with a 19-5 advantage in shots and a 5-1 edge on the night in corner kicks. Fouls in the contest where whistled 11-11.
 
With the loss on Tuesday, Mount Saint Vincent falls to 2-5-1 overall on the season and to 0-4 in league play. The Dolphins will look to end their slide on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Old Westbury. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
