Yonkers, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team fell for the seventh straight game on Monday night following a 4-3 Skyline Conference loss to visiting Yeshiva. Freshman
Tajay Simon (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) scored all three of the Dolphins' goals for his second career hat trick.
Yeshiva never trailed in the game and got on the board in the 24
th minute when Leon Aboudi scored his first of three on night. He converted a penalty kick at the 23:57 mark of the match to give the Maccabees the early advantage.
Aboudi struck again under three minutes later when he finished off a feed from Jeremy Seftel in the 27
th minute. Seftel fed the ball from the left wing where Aboudi finished the pass to the right post for the two goal advantage.
Mount Saint Vincent cut its deficit in half when Simon found the back of the net off a corner kick from
William Gutelius at the 30:18 mark of the contest. Yeshiva, however, answered with its third goal of the half when Seftel scored with just over four minutes remaining before the break.
The Dolphins would rally the entire night but would not be able to find the equalizer. After Simon converted a penalty kick in the 54
th minute to being the Mount back to within 3-2, Aboudi tallied completed his hat trick for Yeshiva in the 61
st minute off a corner kick.
Simon would bring the Dolphins to within a goal for the third time in the contest with his third marker of the game with over 20 minutes left in regulation. The Dolphins would have a flurry of chances in the final 20 minutes but could not pull even.
Simon extended his team leading goal total to eight on the season with his three on Monday. Gutelius added a pair of assists and sits second on the team with three helpers on the season.
Eric Lara (Pawtucket, R.I.) made the start in goal for the Dolphins and made six saves. Joseph Blechner earned the win for Yeshiva after making six stops in the match for the Maccabees.
Overall on the night, Mount Saint Vincent was outshot 20-16 overall and 10-9 in shots on goal. The Dolphins held the edge in corner kicks 6-5 and fouls in the match were called 16-15 against Yeshiva.
Monday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 2-8-1 overall on the season and to 0-7 in Skyline Conference play.
