Owings Mills, Md. – Competing in its second tournament is as many weekends; the College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team dropped two out of three matches at the Stevenson Invitational on Sunday. The Dolphins opened the day with a 3-0 win over Penn St.-Harrisburg and then fell to the host Mustangs and Ursinus 3-0 to close the day.
 
In the opener, the Dolphins snapped a five match losing streak to open the season with the sweep for their first triumph of the year. The Mount topped PSU-Harrisburg by set scores of 25-17, 25-12 and 25-16.
 
A trio of Mount Saint Vincent players led the offensive output against the Lady Lions with Jessica Williams (Cornwall, N.Y.), Morgane Booker (East Providence, R.I.) and Erin MacBride (Merrick, N.Y.) all totaling five kills. MacBride also paced the Mount with 15 assists in the contest.
 
Mount Saint Vincent also showed four players in the match with a least 10 digs. Senior Renee Reynes (Bronx, N.Y.) led the team with 22 digs to go along with a kill and an assist. Williams lifted 11 digs for the Dolphins, while Maureen Metzner (Mineola, N.Y.) and MacBride finished with 10. Metzner rounded out a strong match with three kills and a team-high six service aces.
 
Overall in the match, Mount Saint Vincent finished with 23 kills and lifted 75 digs. The Dolphins also recorded four total team blocks, with Gabriella Burgos (Yonkers, N.Y.) leading the team with a pair of solo blocks and one assisted block. Booker also chipped in with a pair of assisted blocks in the contest.
 
Against Stevenson, the Mount struggled to get anything going offensively and finished with just 10 kills in the match. The Dolphins dropped the match by scores of 9-25, 10-25 and 12-25. Metzner paced the squad with four winners and also chipped in with 12 digs. Booker totaled three kills for Mount Saint Vincent against the Mustangs.
 
Renyes was the team leader in digs for the second match with a team-high 26 against Stevenson. Reynes also picked up the team's only service ace against the Mustangs. Williams, MacBride and Designa Correa (Bronx, N.Y.) each finished the match with five digs apiece.
 
For the match, Mount Saint Vincent picked up just 10 kills and hit -.030 as a team. The Dolphins totaled 57 digs against the Mustangs and MacBride picked up a team-high seven assists.
 
In the finale on Sunday, Mount Saint Vincent was toppled by Ursinus by scores of 16-25, 8-25 and 10-25. The Dolphins totaled 15 kills in the tilt, with Metzner, Booker and Kaitlyn Gaynor (Island Park, N.Y.) each led the way with three kills each.
 
Reynes and Metzner again were tops on the team in digs with each posting double-figures in the category in each match of the day. Reynes recorded a team-high in the category with 16, while Metzner finished up with 13. Overall on the day, Reynes averaged 7.11 digs per set.

Against Ursinus, Mount Saint Vincent hit .028 as a team and totaled 52 digs. MacBride recorded nine of the team's 11 assists in the tilt and Booker recorded the team's lone block.
 
Following Sunday's results, the Dolphins stand at 1-7 overall on the season. Mount Saint Vincent will be back in action again on the road Tuesday evening when it travels to York. Match time with the Cardinals is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
