Final Stats

, Del. Sophomore Nicole Flores (Bethpage, N.Y.) became the third College of Mount Saint Vincent player to score eight goals in a game this season and the Dolphins outscored Wesley by three goals in the second half on their way to a 17-16 non-conference victory on Sunday. Flores matched the program's single game goal record with eight tallies, including the game winner, and finished the day with nine points.

Wesley jumped out a quick four goal lead in the opening six and a half minutes on Sunday keyed by a pair of goals from Mia Brocco. The Dolphins got on the board at the 23:08 mark on Flores' first of the game, but the Wolfpack went on to score three of the next four goals to open a 7-2 lead with 18:03 left in the first stanza.

Mount Saint Vincent then answered with a run of its own, ripping off five of the next six tallies to get within a goal at 8-7 with just over five minutes left in the period. Five different players scored for the Dolphins over that stretch that covered nearly 13 minutes, but they could only get on the board once more before the break and trailed 10-8 after 30 minutes.

After Wesley scored to open the scoring in the second half to take an 11-8 lead, the game never saw an advantage larger then that. Trailing 13-11, the Mount went on a key four goal run that pushed it in front 15-13 with 12:52 left in regulation time. Flores scored six of the Dolphins' nine goals after the half, including two inside the important four goal run.

After Wesley tied the score at 15-15, Flores scored her seventh of the game to give the Mount a 16-15 edge with 5:26 left. Mia Paltrineri answered that with a goal to tie the score once again, before Flores closed out an impressive day with her eighth with just over a minute remaining to send the Dolphins to the victory.

Flores was one of four Mount Saint Vincent players with at least two goals in the game and added one of the team's six assists. She also picked up five groundballs and won three draw controls.

Jessie Mitchell (Suffern, N.Y.) also had a big day for the Mount with three goals and three assists. She led the team with six groundballs and seven draw controls. Kristen LeGeyt (Stony Point, N.Y.) and Lauren Perla (Holbrook, N.Y.) each also added a pair of goals to the winning effort. Perla also added five draw controls on the afternoon.

Wesley was paced by five goals from Jen Jacbos and four tallies and five points from Brocco. Alyssa Prudente also finished the day with five points on the strength of three goals and a pair of assists. Brocco also led all players with eight groundballs for the Wolfpack.

Both goalies were busy on Sunday with Michelle Miller (Chester, Pa.) making 12 saves to earn the win. She also scooped a pair of groundballs for the Dolphins. Alyssa Batty made 21 saves for the Wolfpack and picked up three groundballs.

Mount Saint Vincent outshot Wesley 49-37 in the game, while groundballs were even at 27 apiece. The Dolphins won 18 of the 34 draw controls taken in the game and finished the day 3-for-9 in free position chances.

Sunday's win snaps a three game losing streak for Mount Saint Vincent and gets it back to .500 on the season at 5-5. The Dolphins will play their second straight non-league game on Tuesday when they travel to Centenary. Opening draw is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
