Jersey City, N.J. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team was dealt its third straight loss on Monday evening after a 3-0 loss at New Jersey City University. The Gothic Knights posted the victory by sets scores of 13-25, 15-25 and 20-25. Senior
Maureen Metzner (Mineola, N.Y.) paced the Dolphins with eight kills and 13 digs in the contest.
Mount Saint Vincent was never able to sustain an attack on Monday after hitting -.029 as a team. The Mount's most productive set was the second frame when it hit just .059 after finishing off eight kills, but committing six errors.
Metzner was one of six different Mount Saint Vincent players to finish with at least one kill with her team leading eight on the night. She hit .115 overall in the contest and also led the team with 13 digs and a pair of service aces.
Senior
Jessica Williams (Cornwall, N.Y.) added four winners for the Dolphins to go along with an ace and four digs.
Kaitlyn Gaynor (Island Park, N.Y.) and
Renee Reynes (Bronx, N.Y.) each finished up the match with three kills a piece for the Mount.
Reynes rounded out a solid night with a double-double for the Dolphins after posting a career-high 11 assists in addition to 11 digs. She was one of five different players for the Dolphins to finish with an assist.
The Gothic Knights had a balanced attack in the match with four different players recording at least six kills. Jade Medley led the way and matched Metzner with a match-high eight winners. Kiara Martinez and Indigo Hatcher each posted seven kills, while Tabitha Jordan recorded six.
Cindy Garcia closed the night with a match-high 24 assists for NJCU, with Jordan lifting a match-high 14 digs. Medley rounded out a strong night with five solo blocks for the Gothic Knights.
Overall in the match, NJCU posted 29 kills to 22 for the Mount and lifted 53 digs to 42 for the Dolphins. The Gothic Knights also finished the night with seven total team blocks to a pair for Mount Saint Vincent. Freshman
Sungji Clarke (Tarrytown, N.Y.) led the Mount with a pair of total blocks in the contest.
The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 9-18 overall on the season. The Dolphins will look to snap their skid on Wednesday when they play host to cross-town rival Lehman. The non-conference match is slated for 7:00 p.m.
