Yonkers, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team closed out the 2011 league schedule on Saturday night with a 3-0 loss to Old Westbury. Senior goalie Matt Calandrillo (Cold Spring, N.Y.) made seven saves on the night, while Andres Romero (Port Chester, N.Y.) got off a team-high six shots.
 
Old Westbury would get all the scoring support it needed in the first stanza on Saturday, scoring a pair of goals in the opening 45 minutes. Michael Bayne scored his first of the year in the 24th minute before Tana Weekes scored in the 36th minute to supply an insurance goal before the intermission.
 
Trailing 2-0 at the start of the second half, Mount Saint Vincent had several chances early on to cut its deficit in half. Javier Mandujano (Norwalk, Conn.) had the best chance off a centering feed from Romero that sailed high. The Dolphins took the first four shots of the second period but were unable to find the back of the net.
 
The Panthers would respond when Weekes potted his second of the game at the 64:40 mark of the match off a touch pass from George Villata. He took the feed at the top of the box and maneuvered past the defense and tucked his shot inside the left post for a three goal advantage.
 
Calandrillo played a solid game in goal for the Mount on Saturday after making seven saves, including four in the first half. Old Westbury's Pablo Diaz earned the win and made three stops for the Panthers.
 
Overall in the game, Mount Saint Vincent was outshot 21-11, but only 9-7 in the second half. In all Mount Saint Vincent had four players with a shot with Romero leading the way with his six. Mandujano totaled three shots for the Dolphins in the game.
 
Old Westbury held a slim edge in corner kicks on Saturday at 4-3 and fouls in the contest were whistled 17-14 against Mount Saint Vincent.
 
The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 1-10 overall on the season and to 1-8 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will close out the season on Wednesday evening when it plays host to Sarah Lawrence. Kick-off at Tibbetts Brook Park is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
