Women’s Volleyball Drops Non-Conference Road Match At William Paterson

Women's Volleyball team was swept 3-0 at William Paterson Saturday afternoon. The Dolphins fell to the Pioneers by set scores of 10-25, 8-25 and 17-25. Junior Jessica Williams (Cornwall, N.Y.) led the Dolphins with seven kills in the match.

 

Williams finished with nearly half of the Mount's kill total in the match, as the Dolphins finished with just 16 winners on the afternoon. She finished with a .261 hitting percentage after committing just one attack error in 23 attempts. Williams also totaled six defensive digs and a total block in the contest.

 

Junior Renee Reynes (Bronx, N.Y.) led all players in the match with 19 digs and was one of two players to record double-figures in the category, joining rookie Kallie Maglione (Ridgefield Park, N.J.) who finished with 10. Erin MacBride (Merrick, N.Y.) handed out 14 assists for the Dolphins and recorded Mount Saint Vincent's lone service ace in the match.

 

William Paterson (2-0) hit .320 for the match and was led by Kim Runge who finished with 14 kills and a .316 hitting percentage. Kelly Shaw also had a strong match for the Pioneers, posting seven digs and four aces in the win.

 

For the match, Williams Paterson posted 37 kills and picked up eight total team blocks to just two for the Dolphins. The Pioneers also finished with nine service aces, while the Dolphins lifted 48 digs to 21 for the Pioneers.

 

The loss evens Mount Saint Vincent's overall record at 1-1 on the season. The Dolphins will look to rebound on September 8 when they travel to Skyline Conference preseason favorite NYU-POLY. The match with the Blue Jays is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
