Women’s Lacrosse Falls At FDU-Florham

her fifth hat trick of the season, leading the Mount with three goals on the night. Katie Tucci (Baldwinsville, NY) and Cyndi Adams (Mechanicsville, MD) each scored two goals in the contest for the Dolphins.

Mount Saint Vincent jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on Thursday night. Adams opened the scoring with a goal at the 5:11 mark, before Martin recorded back-to-back markers at 7:31 and 8:10 to push the Mount out front. FDU-Florham would answer with a goal, but Adams and Martin would score two straight to put the Dolphins in front 5-1 at the 12:57 mark of the first half.

From that point, FDU-Florham would go on to score the last nine goals of the half to take a 10-5 lead into halftime. FDU-Florham would carry the momentum into the second half with the first two tallies in the final period to open a commanding 12-5 advantage.

Tucci, Jessie Mitchell (Suffern, NY) and Lauren Perla (Holbrook, NY) all scored in the second half, but FDU-Florham would tally 11 times in the frame to secure the victory.

Mitchell had a strong night for the Dolphins, as she added three assists to her goal for a four point night. Tucci would also add a helper as she recorded three points in the contest. Mitchell also posted a team-high three groundballs, while Tucci and Kristen LeGeyt (Stony Point, NY) each scooped a pair for the Mount.

Jackie Horn (Setauket, NY) made her fifth start in goal for Mount Saint Vincent and made 13 saves, including 10 in the first half. Horn also collected a pair of groundballs on Thursday.

FDU-Florham had five players record multiple goals and was led by six markers from Amanda Wayne. Wayne also added a pair of assists in the win. Christine Dunn got the win in goal as she was forced to make just one save on the night.

Overall, FDU-Florham out shot Mount Saint Vincent 49-16 and also held the edge in groundballs at 34-12. FDU-Florham won 22 draw controls against 10 for the Mount and turnovers in the contest went 30-17 against the Dolphins.

The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 1-4 overall on the season. The Dolphins will be back in action for their home opener on Saturday, March 29 against the University of Scranton. The game at Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers is slated for 6:00 p.m.
