Women’s Lacrosse crushes Cazenovia 19-5 to finish 2006 season 9-9

O’Donnell, Clark enjoy career best days to pace Dolphins who finish 2006 undefeated at home

(Riverdale, NY) – Freshman Ciara O'Donnell (Bethpage, NY/Kellenberg) netted career highs in goals (5), assists (3), and points (8), and junior Beth Clark (Silver Spring, MD/St. John's Prep) also set career highs, adding three goals and two assists as the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team scored the game's first 14 goals en route to a 19-5 win over visiting Cazenovia College on Saturday during a game played at Wien Stadium. With the win, the Mount finishes the 2006 season with a 9-9 record, their second consecutive campaign at .500 or better.

After a long Cazenovia possession to begin the game that yielded two shots but no scores, the Mount Saint Vincent offense took over and went on an incredible run. Playing most of the game in transition, the Dolphins scored 12 times during the first half, eight of which were assisted goals. O'Donnell had three goals and an assist by halftime, and sophomore Chanel Comis (Durham, NC/Cardinal Gibbons) assisted on three first half goals and scored twice during the span to register five points. Mount Saint Vincent dominated the first half statistically, outshooting the Wildcats, 23-6, gaining 14 ground balls to Cazenovia's five, and winning nine of the first 11 draw controls.

The second half was much of the same early as the Mount scored five of the first six second half goals and cruised to victory. Also having a big game for the Dolphins was sophomore Amanda Nadhir (Bloomfield Hills, MI/Marian), who had two goals and three assists, and Cyndi Adams (Mechanicsville, MD/Chopticon HS) chipped in two goals. Overall, Mount Saint Vincent owned a 40-13 advantage in shots and combined for 19 ground balls compared to Cazenovia's 11.

With a second successful season of varsity play behind them that included five All-Conference picks and a trip to the Skyline Conference Semifinals, Mount Saint Vincent can now look forward to a 2007 season when all 12 starters are expected to return.
