and losing 18-10 to Gordon College two days later, the Mount started the season 1-4 and has gradually worked their way back to the .500 mark. On Wednesday, they reached their goal after jumping out to a 7-0 lead en route to a 13-2 win over Ramapo College during a game played at Ramapo. With the win, Mount Saint Vincent is now 7-7 overall and one win away from insuring their third straight regular season finish at .500 or better.

On Wednesday, defense was the story of the day as the Mount allowed 10 goals or less for the 10th time during 14 games this season. Ramapo College (3-5) actually won the opening draw and maintained possession for nearly four minutes and took three shots, but the Mount Saint Vincent defense held. And when the Dolphins finally did get the ball, their offense had a solid day. Freshman Kelly Martin (North Rockland, NY/North Rockland HS) scored the first of her four goals at 24:46 to take a 1-0 lead, and three minutes later sophomore Megan Fleri (Islip, NY/Islip HS) scored to make it 2-0. 30 seconds after Fleri's tally, junior Chanel Comis (Durham, NC/Cardinal Gibbons) scored twice in a 58-second span to make it 4-0, and the rout was on. Sophomore Stacie Tripp (Glen Cove, NY/Glen Cove HS) scored twice in a row to make it 6-0 and Martin scored her second of the game to increase the lead to seven. After Ramapo scored with 3:56 remaining in the first half to make it 7-1, the Mount closed the half with two goals in a 44-second span to give the Dolphins a comfortable 9-1 halftime lead.

The second half was much of the same as the Dolphins scored four in a row to make it 13-1 before Ramapo score a free position goal with 4:31 left in the game for the 13-2 final.

Martin and Comis finished with four goals apiece, while Tripp scored twice and added an assist. On the defensive end, junior Cynthia Osorio (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside HS) enjoyed one of the finest games of her season as she registered four ground balls and five caused turnovers, and freshman goalie Nicole Fortier (East Lyme, CT/East Lyme HS) was outstanding between the pipes as she stopped eight out of 10 Ramapo shots. Overall the Mount enjoyed a 36-12 edge in shots, a 23-9 ground ball advantage, and converted three out of four free position shots.

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Friday, April 26 when they travel to Kean University for their Skyline Conference finale at 7:00 p.m. Already assured a Skyline Conference playoff berth, the Mount will clinch the #3 seed for next week's Skyline Conference Playoffs with a win.
