Martin’s Six Point Night Leads Mount Saint Vincent Past Ramapo

score at least two goals and were led by Kelly Martin (Stony Pont, NY) who finished with six points on four goals and two assists.

The Dolphins dominated the game from the outset, as they led 12-0 at the half. Martin scored three of her four goals in the opening period. In the opening 30:00, Mount Saint Vincent out shot Ramapo 18-8 and converted on 12 of those.

The Dolphins ran out to an 18 goal advantage in the second half, before Ramapo's Sarah Clayton got the Roadrunners on the board with an unassisted tally with 12:15 left in regulation. That would be the only blemish on the Mount's starting goalkeeper Jackie Horn (Setauket, NY). After Cyndi Adams (Mechanicsville, MD) closed out the scoring for the Dolphins with just over four minutes left, Ramapo's Jourdan Chiavaro beat Karen Laurent (East Elmhurst, NY) with six seconds left in the contest.

Horn played a strong game in net for the Mount, as she made six saves, all in the first half. She carried the shutout into the second half until Clayton's tally. Horn also collected a groundball in the contest. Laurent came on with 9:24 left in the game and made two saves. Both of her stops came on free-position attempts by the roadrunners.

Martin added two assists to her four goals on the night, while Jessie Mitchell (Suffern, NY) finished the night with five points on five markers and a helper. Lauren Perla (Holbrook, NY) posted three goals and an assist, while Adams and Kristen LeGeyt (Stony Point, NY) both finished with a pair of goals.

Mitchell led the team with five draw controls, while Jenna McColgan (Lynbrook, NY), LeGeyt, and Adams all finished with a pair of draw controls. Katie Zimmerman (Kings Park, NY) led the team with four groundballs, while Alexis Alessi (Rockville Centre, NY) finished with two groundballs and a pair of caused turnovers.

Overall in the game, Mount Saint Vincent held the edge in shots 34-13 and in groundballs 20-14. Draw Controls in the game were 14-9 in favor of Mount Saint Vincent, while turnovers went 16-13 against the Roadrunners. Mount Saint Vincent converted three of its eight free position opportunities, with Ramapo going 0-5.

The win brings Mount Saint Vincent to the .500 mark at 6-6 on the season. The Dolphins also move to 2-0 in Skyline Conference play on the season. The Mount will be off until April 23 when it hosts Farmingdale State. Game time at Tibbetts Brook Park is set for 4:00 p.m.
