Katie Tucci (Baldwinsville, NY) who all scored three goals in the contest.
Mount Saint Vincent scored 16 of the 17 goals in the opening half to take a commanding 16-1 advantage into halftime. The only blemish against the Mount in the opening 30:00 was a goal from Maritime's Andria Thornton at the 7:32 mark. The trio of Mitchell, Adams and Tucci all scored their three goals in the first half. Kelly Martin (Stony Point, NY) and Lauren Perla (Holbrook, NY) each added a pair of markers in the opening half.
In the second period, the Dolphins again allowed just one goal as they outscored the Privateers 3-1 to secure their first league win of the season. After Megan Fleri (Islip, NY) opened the scoring in the second half, Katie Zimmerman (Kings Park, NY) and Marie Garcia (Medford, MA) added tallies following Maritime's lone goal of the period.
In addition to her three goals on the night, Mitchell also led the team in groundballs with four and tied for the team led in draw controls with three. Stacie Tripp (Glen Cove, NY) also had a strong night, as she picked up three groundballs, recorded three draw controls and scored a goal. Zimmerman also finished with three groundballs to go along with her goal.
Jackie Horn (Setauket, NY) got the start in goal made a single save for the Dolphins. In her sixth appearance of the season, Karen Lauren (East Elmhurst, NY) came on in the second half and also made a save for the Mount.
Overall in the contest, the Dolphins out shot the Privateers by a 28-4 margin and also held the advantage in draw controls at 15-8. Groundballs in the tilt went 25-24 in favor of Maritime, while turnovers were 26-14 against the Privateers. Mount Saint Vincent was successful on two of its four clearing attempts.
The win improves Mount Saint Vincent's overall record to 5-6 on the season and its Skyline record to 1-0. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Saturday evening when they host Ramapo. The contest is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers.
