Women’s Lacrosse Cruises Past Cazenovia For Second Straight Win

SYRACUSE, NY – Eight players scored goals for the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team, as the Dolphins cruised to an 18-1 win at Cazenovia on Saturday afternoon. Jessie Mitchell (Suffern, NY)

and Cyndi Adams (Mechanicsville, MD) led the offensive attack with four goals each.

The Dolphins dominated from the start as they held a 12-0 lead heading into halftime. Cazenovia would get its only tally of the game 47 seconds into the second half, before the Dolphins reeled off six more to secure their second straight win. Over the past two games, the Dolphins have 38 goals.

Mitchell added an assist for a five point day, while Kelly Martin finished with four points on three goals and an assist. Katie Tucci (Baldwinsville, NY) posted a pair of goals in the win to go along with an assist.

Kim Freaso (Setauket, NY) and Mitchell each picked up four groundballs to lead the squad. Mitchell also caused four turnovers in the game and won three draw controls. Tucci, Adams and Alexis Alessi (Rockville Centre, NY) each won a pair of draw controls for the Mount, with Tucci also collecting three groundballs.

Jackie Horn (Setauket, NY) picked up the win in goal for the Dolphins, allowing just one goal and making nine saves. Horn also picked up a groundball in the winning effort.

Mount Saint Vincent held the advantage in every category on Saturday. The Dolphins out shot Cazenovia 33-13 and also held the edge in groundballs at 20-16. The Dolphins won 13 draw controls against eight for Cazenovia and turnovers in the contest went 26-21 against Cazenovia. The Dolphins were 2-4 on free position shots.

The win moves Mount Saint Vincent to 3-5 overall on the season. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Sunday when they take on Morrisville. Game-time is set for 2:30 p.m.
