Final Stats

Riverdale
, N.Y. Junior midfielder Hugo Hernandez (West Harrison, N.Y.) tallied two goals on Tuesday night as the College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team ended a four match winless streak with a 2-1 conference triumph over Yeshiva. Classmate Javier Mandujano (Norwalk, Conn.) earned the win in goal after stopping one shot on the night.

Hernandez opened the scoring in the first half when he took a pass down the left side from Ahmed Ajao (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and scored to the far post at the 29:27 mark of the match. The tally gave Hernandez the team lead in goals with four on the season and the helper was Ajao's second on the campaign.

The lead would carry through halftime until Yeshiva evened the score at 1-1 in the 56th minute when Elezir Nuvakhov netted his fourth of the season to bring the Maccabees even.

The score would remain knotted for nearly twenty minutes until Hernandez picked up his second of the match and fifth of the season in the 73rd minute. This time Andreas Romero (Port Chester, N.Y.) led Hernandez with a pass to the outside that ended up in the net. Yeshiva keeper Mark Rocklin made an initial stop but the ball rolled up and over him and into the net for the game winner. Hernandez has now scored the deciding goal in each of the Dolphins' three victories this season.

Mandujano had to make just the one save to earn the victory on the night and has still not allowed more then two goals in a contest this season. Rocklin stopped eight shots for the Maccabees in a strong effort between the pipes.

Overall in the match, the Dolphins had an overwhelming edge in shots at 23-3 and took all 10 corner kicks in the contest. Fouls went 14-9 against the Dolphins and Mount Saint Vincent was whistled for 16 offside infractions on the night.

The win improves Mount Saint Vincent to 3-4-3 overall on the season and to 2-3-2 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will be back on the pitch again on Thursday night when they host NYU-POLY. Kick-off at Manhattan College's Gaelic Park is set for 8:30 p.m.
