Dolphins Face Tough Competition At Home Against Farmingdale

Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent was defeated by Farmingdale State College, 15-4, in Skyline Conference action, with third quarter being the difference for the visitors. 

The Dolphins fell to 2–6 overall and 2-3 in conference play. 

The Rams jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the opening quarter before the Dolphins got on the board late, as Ella Meberg finished a feed from Isabelle Gurley to cut the deficit to 2-1 after one. Meberg added to her team best goal total, now with 24 in her final season with the team. The Rams extended their lead in the second quarter, building a 5-1 advantage before Meberg assisted back to Gurley to make it 5-2 heading into halftime.

The game shifted decisively in the third quarter, where Farmingdale scored seven goals in a decisive run to take control of the contest. Despite UMSV's efforts, the Dolphins were unable to slow the momentum as the Rams pushed the lead to double digits.

To the Dolphins credit, they showed fight in the fourth quarter, with Gurley scoring twice to complete her hat trick.  Farmingdale, however, answered down the stretch to secure the 15-4 victory.

Gurley led the Dolphins offensively with three goals and an assist, while Meberg added a goal and an assist of her own. Gurley also led the charge with six draw controls. 

Brittany Boyle was effective at midfield with four ground balls and two caused turnovers while goalkeeper Makenna Reekie had a robust stat line of 10 saves, nine ground balls and six caused turnovers. 

The Dolphins remain home heading into the weekend, with a matchup against the United States Merchant Marine Academy set for Saturday.
